Vestri

"Vestri" is a word meaning "Westerner", in High Elven, referring to the peoples descended from the fallen kingdom of Nord. It is said that Nord was the first great king of Man, ruling over all the lands of the East, which at that time was covered in thick forest, before the Age of Fire, before even the First Sunrise, when only the Moon's light did cover the world. In time, they began to spread even beyond the Great Sea, to the Western Lands. Unfortunately, during the first Dark War 6,000 years ago, the dökkálfar unleashed a terrible weapon, turning the fertile lands of the south into desert. As the conflict between the dökkálfar and ljósálfar grew worse, eventually leading to the fall of the once mighty kingdom.

While nearly all human races are descended from the people of Nord, it is the people known as the Vestri who most embody their appearance and might. The West is much unlike the East, with a harsh contempt for life and ground to hard to take shelter below the hills and mountains. As such, the Vestri are divided between a number of city-states, led by powerful warlords. Philosophies and religions vary, but most put a strong emphasis on personal strength. Most Vestri superficially resemble light elves, with blonde hair and fair skin; however, they tend to be broader of shoulder and lack the iconic pointed ears.
